Network of festivals “Strandja FEST” on both sides of the border
The idea for development of Strandja as a festival destination brought together representatives of local and regional authorities, non-governmental organizations and community centers from Malko Tarnovo and Kirklareli, Turkey.
In the spring of 2018, on the weekends of two consecutive weeks, a joint cross-border festival „Strandja FEST“ was held, at the end of April in Malko Tarnovo and at the beginning of May in Kirklareli, Turkey.
In the framework of the cross-border initiative, Community center „Prosveta-1914“, Malko Tarnovo hosted a training „Development of Strandja as a festive destination“. More than 50 stakeholder representatives from Strandja region discussed key issues and opportunities in the region and contributed to the development of a three-year program 2017-2020 for the development of Strandja as a festive destination. As a result of the three-day forum, a joint promotional plan for 2018 was also prepared. The Memorandum for cooperation and development of Strandja FEST network was signed at the event. The founding of the Strandja FEST network is initiated by Community center “Prosveta 1914″ – Malko Tarnovo and Directorate of Culture and Tourism in Kirklareli, Turkey, as part of the activities of the Strandja FEST project. Strandja FEST is founded as a network of organizations and individuals interested in the development of Strandja as a tourist, cultural and festival destination. Among its founders are representatives of local and regional authorities, community centers, cultural and educational organizations, NGOs, tour operators and representatives of the tourist business. They will also participate in a joint steering committee.
The event is part of the activities under the project “Strandja – the mountain of festivals” STRANDJA –FEST, CB005.1.22.056, financed by the Interreg IPA CBC Programme Bulgaria – Turkey 2014 – 2020.
In 2018 festivals in Strandja will be actively promoted. For this purpose has been created a trilingual site: http://www.strandja-fest.info and social media campaigns. Facebook profile has already been prepared: Strandja- the mountain of festivals.
